Health & Healing

What is health? What is healing?

It may be a process of establishing EQUILIBRIUM in all aspects of our being. For, the body, mind and spirit are self-adjusting. If we provide the thoughts and materials* needed for nourishment, and remove what is noxious, we begin to see the signs of healing.

DID YOU KNOW?

It has been said that there are only three physical causes of disease: parasites, toxins, and trauma, all of which disturb your balance. To this, I would add one more: the lack of raw materials that the body needs to repair itself. Take a look, below, at some of the suggestions I follow to help myself restore balance.

There are many non-physical causes of disease:

“Your body is eavesdropping on every thought you think,” according to Deepak Chopra, M.D. Every thought is immediately translated into powerful neurochemicals, and we now know that there are receptor sites for these chemicals throughout your body. He suggests that if you wish to determine why your body is the way it is today, look at yesterday’s thoughts. And if you wish to see what your body will be like in the future, pay attention to your thoughts of today.

Read an amazing article by Larry Dossey, M.D., at the Institute of Noetic Sciences website, on consciousness and the therapeutic relationship – how medical personnel influence, for good or ill, the health of their patients. noetic.org/research/ch_book/files/Dossy.pdf Warning: it may shake up your belief system!

FEAR

False
Evidence
Appearing
Real

Fears not completely released, or which are dwelt upon, become discordant energies which embed themselves in our body’s electromagnetic field. These fears masquerade as all the “negative” emotions: anger, sadness, jealousy, guilt, hatred, impatience, frustration, etc.

Emotional release work is a key to psychological, emotional, and physical health.

Emotional energy clearing techniques, such as Neuro Emotional Technique, Neuro Emotional Anti-Sabotage Technique, and others such as Thought Field Therapy (developed by Dr. Roger Callahan) that I introduce to people with phobias and addictions, all help release stuck harmful energies from your energy meridians. As these negative energies are released, life force which was used for defense mechanisms, such as repression or denial, is then freed up and can be used to heal the body.

Principles of BALANCE, FLEXIBILITY, and MINDFULNESS

are an integral part of my work when teaching clients the tools for healing themselves. These principles are most effective if applied to every aspect of your life and being.

Where do YOU need to start?

BALANCE

Energy rebalancing techniques, such as those which come from Touch For Health ™ and its derivatives, restore balance to the body on many dimensions. For example, humans have three kinds of balance, just as a ship does: pitch, roll, and yaw. Human energy systems are interfered with every day by electromagnetic fields around us, and can suffer from switching, over-energy, and other imbalances of an electrical or magnetic nature. The following website is an excellent resource for you to learn simple techniques for correcting these imbalances*, or email me for more information. Feeling Free*

FLEXIBILITY
There are many ways to improve your body and mind’s flexibility. Start small, with the physical body first – simple stretches, yoga, isometrics – and then add more to your routine as you become comfortable with the changes.

Then, become aware of how often you may be inflexible with you mind, and how you think. Notice how you often have preconceived notions about the motivation of other people, for example. When you “jump to confusions”, learn to question your perceptions and you will find yourself better able to adapt to life, and to face change (instead of defending against it.) We are all guilty of cognitive distortions – errors in our thinking – that then become habits, and then, prisons. We overgeneralize, become polarized in our thinking, and judge on partial information. Catch yourself in the act of doing that, and think of alternative explanations for why people act the way they act. You will be happier.

MINDFULNESS
One of my favorite books is by Ellen Langer, a Harvard Ph.D. It is dog-eared and worn, since it has been popular in my lending library. It is called, simply “Mindfulness.” In it, she talks about how we make premature cognitive commitments which initially save us time and prevent us from being over-stimulated. But, over time, these shortcuts box in our thinking. The solution? Become aware, moment to moment, of all the preconceptions you have, and relearn to think outside the box.

Mindfulness is a concept that, as a stress reducer, tells us to be here now. If we are focused in the present, more of our energy will be available so that we can function more effectively, body, mind and spirit. It allows us to respond to life, instead of reacting. If, however, we are living in the past, anger and other negative emotions will influence your thoughts and feelings. If you are focused in the future, fear and anxiety will influence you. There are times, of course, when thinking about the past or future is appropriate; that is not what is being mentioned here. What is optimal is staying aware and truly awake in the moment, in order to be more in touch with life as it is, not as you remember it, nor as you think it should be.

For more information and exercises on how to be more mindful, consult Jon Kabat-Zinn’s book Full Catastrophe Living. For more interesting reading on the subject of health from a mind-body perspective, see below.

Does Your Body Need a Little Help?

Your body is designed to be able to help itself – if you give it the raw materials it needs. Unfortunately, our soils are severely depleted, so we don’t get enough nutrients from the food we eat, as our grandparents did. This means we must supplement our diet – with natural vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. (Your body DOES know the difference between left-rotating atoms and synthetic right-rotating atoms, despite what some “experts” might say.) And – our environment is also much more contaminated than it was 100 years ago.

What does that mean for us? Many things… Our bodies must expend much energy detoxifying, and must function efficiently enough that it can get rid of the waste. Oxygenate your body! There are many powerful and natural antioxidants available today. One of my favorites is Ninxia Red Juice by Young Living. Essential oils can assist in oxygenation and detoxification – see my Aromatherapy page for more information, and a link to Young Living.

Tiredness is one possible indicator that your body is toxic, or not processing toxins optimally. Your body will apply its energy stores to the organs and processes of the body that are most critical, so you may not have as much energy for play as you once had. Headaches are another strong indicator of toxicity.

How to improve your health? Try simple things like drinking pure WATER – lots of it – and making that a financial and physical priority. Then, remember to prioritize EXERCISE. Even though you are tired, it gets your lymphatic and other systems of the body working better, and afterwards you may even feel more energetic than you did when you started. Get those endorphins pumping, and make sure to sweat! And learn to BREATHE properly, using the diaphragm. Finally, consider incorporating some form of MEDITATION into your daily routine. (If you need more convincing, do a search on its benefits!)

SWINE & AVIAN FLU

There is much information and misinformation in the current news about recent flu outbreaks. These viruses are forms of H1N1 (a strain of the Spanish Flu of 1918) and H5N1, which is more serious. Most people who died from the 1919 flu died from the accompanying strep infection (which is now treatable with antibiotics and essential oils). In current times, most people who die from the flu die from complications from pneumonia. Use discernment when listening to the news and interpreting statistics. And remember that succumbing to fear makes you more susceptible to what you fear, because it weakens your immune system. Remind yourself that worrying and planning are very different things! I also suggest you visit the informative website of Dr. Marla Scripter.

What to Do About It

The more toxic the terrain of your body is, the more susceptible you are. Detox yourself, and bolster your immune system. Consult a chiropractor, physician or healer whom you trust. 2 Invaluable Items to have on hand: certain essential oils (see my Aromatherapy page), and colloidal silver.

Prayer has been demonstrated in numerous double-blind studies to be an extremely effective healing modality. Have you heard about the Spindrift Studies reported in “Recovering the Soul” by Larry Dossey, M.D.?
