E.M.D.R
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a form of Energy Psychology. It is an innovative clinical technique which can be used to significantly shorten the time spent in therapy.
It is based on the theory that during R.E.M. sleep, rapid eye movements indicate that a form of communication is occurring between the two hemispheres of the brain. It is hypothesized that the information of the day is being processed during R.E.M. sleep, forming new associations in the brain, and forging connections between the day’s experiences and interpretations of the past.
Some of your beliefs from the past may have outlived their usefulness and may no longer serve you well. Through E.M.D.R., it is believed that your brain helps to reveal and release these inappropriate interpretations, replacing them with new beliefs that are more adaptive. E.M.D.R. has been demonstrated to be extremely effective in relieving anxiety.
Not everyone is a candidate for E.M.D.R. A screening test is used to determine its appropriateness for you. Ninety minutes are required for the typical E.M.D.R. session, and needs to be scheduled in advance.
